In June 2007 Elexon agreed to changes which allow Meter Administrators to include dynamic switching information in the half hourly energy calculation. The changes will be implemented in February 2008 by progressive Meter Administrators. Until now, Lighting Authorities could not include energy cost savings in their business cases unless they installed meters on the street lighting. Metering of street lighting is an administrative nightmare and authorities avoid it wherever possible. Now the full benefits of the reduced energy cost can be realised through a Meter Administrator.
